W. Va. firefighter dies in fire truck crash

Firefighter Zachary Whitacre, 21, was going to get second tank of water for structure fire when truck slid into embankment

WINCHESTER, W. Va. — A Va. firefighter died in a fire truck crash Monday.

Firefighter Zachary Whitacre, 21, of Gore Volunteer Fire & Rescue, was going to get a second tank of water for a structure fire when his father, Firefighter Donald Whitacre, lost control of the truck on the icy road and slid into an embankment, according to the Winchester Star.

Firefighter Zachary Whitacre was ejected when the truck hit the embankment.
