Fla. firefighter dead after falling during ladder training

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A firefighter died after falling from a ladder during training Friday in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Firefighter William "Jumbo" Elliott, 49, of Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, was conducting aerial ladder training at the back of his fire station when he fell from near the top of the extended ladder.

The injuries he sustained killed him.

Firefighter Elliott had served for 23 years.
