Alaska crew responds to single engine plane crash

SOLDOTNA, Alaska - Just after 10:00 AM, Tuesday April 24, 2007, Central Emergency Services was dispatched to the Soldotna City Airport for a reported aircraft accident.

On arrival Firefighters found a Piper PA-22-135 fixed wing, single-engine airplane on it's roof.

The pilot only suffered a cut elbow, and sustained the injury on exiting the airplane.

A crosswind lifted the left wing of the plane and pushed it off the runway while the pilot was trying to land the aircraft.

Central Emergency Services responded with Medic One and Rescue One, plus command and support staff.
